1080 TI idling at 55C

I have solved the problem! It is because on the Nvidia control panel my "power management mode" was on "prefer maximum performance". I changed it to "optimal" which has solved the problem. I know when I have my fans on 😛 image.thumb.png.3f9aa82c389f681c887dbc6ef739fbb6.png

Hi, does anyone know why my 1080 TI is running at 55C?

Thank you :)

If load temps are 80c then should be fine

If they are 90 or 95c now thats abit concerning, consider repasting the gpu

Did it suddenly idle that high or was it doing it since you bought it?  Case looks like not much airflow.

Need a bit of context here.

Seems its operating at 0% silent fan mode. It won't turn on until it even hits a certain temperature, and 56c doesn't seem wrong for that mode. Seems they don't even turn on until 50-55c, which would be consistent with your minimal 15% fan blip.

What are your load temps?

Sorry for the lack of info, I bought this 1080 Ti new around 2 or 3 years ago and it always idled at mid 20s to low 30s but has started to heat up for no real reason. My case has adequate air flow or I think at least because of it working fine before hand. This is quite sudden. I can typically play games like CSGO without the fans spinning and causing it to only reach 55C

If your load temps are only 60c, I wouldn't worry about it. Like I said, fans won't even turn on until 55c.

Has your ambient temperature increased? It's summer where I am, and it's hotter overall. It's possible thermal paste isn't amazing, but I'd lend more towards it's just warmer than it was the last time you really looked at your temps.

My room has a portable AC and the recorded temp is 22.3C

Sometimes it will be utilized for things. Mine shot up to 65% briefly.

I don't really know what to say - if load temps are fine I wouldn't give much thought to idle temps. They really do not matter at all. Perhaps you updated a driver or setting that enabled 0% fan mode. Perhaps in the past you had a minimum state always on fan? Who knows?

Ultimately, if your load temperatures are only 60c, your idle temps don't matter.
