1 rear exhaust + 2 top exhaust = possible ?

So i have a GAMEMAX Dark Ranger PC case and the IT & tech guys from the shop i bought it said i should use the 3 fans in this manner.

 

- 1 rear fan = exhaust

- 2 top fans = exhaust

 

They said that due to the case being smaller, this way a lot of hot air will get out.

 

Are they right, should i follow their advice ?

Your graphics card will be blowing air up as well. The fan orientation seems fine to me as long as you have enough air intake from the front.

@TylerD321 I don't have any fans on the front because the case doesn't allow for that.

 

Also the GPU is horizontally facing with the fans down and the backplate up.

Fans are easy to change orientation if it doesn't work. I would just try both options and check your temperatures. Both will be fine most likely but one will probably be slightly better. The way that you mention reminds me of something similar to a vacuum.

 

If I am correct, the fans from the gpu will mostly send the air through the backplate of the gpu or out the back vent of your case.

Instead on relying on what someone else tells you, why not just try yourself and watch the temps of your graphics card?

How easily can you return that case. I don't think I've seen a case setup so poorly.. ever.. from a cooling perspective. 

 

You absolutely want cool fresh air coming into the case.

This. And also if you have a big enough cpu cooler that helps direct airflow through the top or back depending on the orientation of fans you go with, you most likely can't go wrong either way.

I didn't mean to annoy you, sorry. But it will take you 15 minutes to figure out if you suffocate your graphics card.

I would say probably, but you would be much better off with a different case.

You want some sort of air FLOW.  All exhaust doesn't guarantee cooling if no cooler air comes in to replace it.

 

If you put a fan in a doorway of a room to get air out, is it more effective with the window closed or open?

And before you quote me and ask is it okay to do what I said... yes it is.  They're ALL fine, just have differing impacts.

 

Like your GPU question thread, just try it out tonight, takes a few minutes.

Uh... that sort of depends... the room is about 33'C in summer like now... it's not exactly like it will put in really cool air as intake.

33c is MUCH cooler than the heat in the case, is it not?  Stop and think for a minute of what you're trying to accomplish.

 

All exhaust is fine, if that's what you want.  My bet is that 2 intake top and 1 exhaust rear will get you lower GPU temps, which is what you're after.

 

Basically you have a bad case for what you're worrying so much about.  Get a new case that flows air, and your GPU will be much cooler.

They're telling you that because the case sucks and has no airflow. Your only options are exhaust.

I'm getting around 79'C on the GPU when gaming.

 

If i can get 75'C with all 3 as EXHAUST i'm happy with that.

Because they have a different opinion than I do, nothing nefarious or scammy about it.  They think one way (which I am sure others here do as well) and I think another.

Please, stop asking the same exact question.  

 

When you have the fans in, measure temps and post here please.
