i just got a 3090 for my work pc

something i remember seeing and a friend reminded me is the 3090 got a vram over heating issue

i got the reference card. is that a issue on it? if it is. is there a good video that shows how to fix it?

i use it for renderings and texture work so it works hard and id rather not kill it xD

 

cpu: 5950x

mobo: asus tuf pro x570

gpu: 3090 FE 

ram: 32gb G.SKILL Trident Z 3200 c14

psu: Antec HCP1300w Platinum (overkill i know...got it for a good price)

 

thats all needed right?...i didnt study for this exam....

Still an issue not fixed. There isn't really a good fix for it.

it's an issue for VRAM heavy workloads yes

you can check it yourself with HWinfo64

check disassembly guide and replace the thermal pad with good ones, that worked out for 2 of my G6X GPUs (non-FE), dropped temps by around 20c in one of the card and stops throttling

but if yours is only slightly throttling, consider adding more airflow to it, either forcing the fan speed up or something

just know that the risk is not small for disassembling the card

especially in a gpu drought, and silly pricing

 

as for pads, im using thermalright pads they're nice

so me got big stupid any chance u can link me to what to get and if u got any video that shows where to put what xD

i know its allot to ask but its not somthing i ever did! im not NEW to pc's and i took apart my current gtx1080 a few times to switch thermal paste on the die in the many years i got it. but i never did a swap of pads. and id love doing so if it means my card will hold longer....i might have paid under msrp but i still want the best i can get! XD

but if the issue is with every ryx 3090 shouldn't i say fuck it and fix it?

can allways put some better thermal paste like thermal grizzly
