Ok, since im here now i might aswell ask as much i can to learn more about pcs, im new and this is my second post.
So my main gaming rig has a Ryzen 5 3600 I got it quite cheap this January, i upgraded from an i7 4771 with a gtx 1060 6gb that somehow broke down, or at least that's what the tech guy told me, right now i own an RTX 3060Ti.
I had to go for the Ryzen 5 3600 since i spent ALL MY MONEY on the graphics card of course, even my motherboard is quite crappy (Gigabyte b450 ds3h v2) So i was thinking of upgrading soon, perhaps December i could get a new CPU and motherboard.

The thing is that i wanted to upgrade to a Ryzen 5 5600X but a friend told me that it wasn't worth it and that i should at least go for a Ryzen 7 5800X so the upgrade would make sense. Sadly the Ryzen 7 5800X is quite expensive in my country and i was wondering IF the Ryzen 7 3700X was a better upgrande than the Ryzen 5 5600X, perhaps somewhere in between R5 5600x and R7 5800x? or is it even a worse deal?

I feel like my cpu is not as good as my graphics card and that i could get much better gaming performance with a better cpu. What do you guys think? is it ok if i just keep the R5 3600 till i can save more money for the R7 5800X? (it will take a while) or am i missing out too much? if thats the case should i go sooner for a R7 3700X or a R5 5600X?

About the motherboard i dont care much about fancy motherboards i guess, i wanted to just upgrade to a b550, perhaps the ASUS TUF Gaming b550 plus? (My gpu is ASUS TUF gaming rtx 3060Ti so theyd match) Or is there any other nice b550 motherboard around that price that would be better?

Whats your budget?

Whats your country?

What are you gonna use it for other than gaming?

Any extra needs (like wifi)?

And are you gonna overclock?

the R5 3600 is a very capable CPU

My sons PC

R5 3600 with 3060TI FE and it is fine in games at 1080p

You better of waiting when the new AMD CPUs come out with the new socket as AM4 is at its end

Why are you upgrading exactly?

I am not upgrading yet, im planing to do it cus ill get some extra money at the end of the year and i feel like i could get a much better performance out of my 3060Ti with a better cpu.
One of the guys i play Warzone with has a 3060Ti with a R7 5800X and he gets like 20 - 40 fps more than i do depending on what part of the map we are on, i get a nice fps count but a lot of drops too, like sometimes  i get around 120fps and then in some areas it drops to around 85fps and it very VERY noticeable while this friend never goes under 100 and gets normally around 140fps.
I have 16gb of ram at 3200Mhz and i dont open any other process while playing but discord so my best guess is that the R5 3600 while it's enough for most games, it just can't bring the best of the 3060Ti out and since i got this CPU at a very low cost thanks to a deal i always thought of upgrading sooner than later.

I mostly play AAA games on my PC and Warzone (me and my team take it a bit seriously) so i want to get the highest fps count possible.

Im getting a reasonable amount of extra money this december but a R7 5800X costs around $575 is a bit too much, the R5 5600X around $380 in my country and the R7 3700X $430 so i wanted to decide which one should i go for, Im from Peru btw.

Apart from gaming i use mostly Adobe After Effects, Premiere, Photoshop, i work in film making, photography and design. Also wanted to start streaming with some friends.

I dont need Wifi on my main PC im always connected with ethernet cable

I don't think ill overclock, im quite new at getting my hands dirty myself but perhaps in the future who knows.
Also i just learned that new AMD cpus may come out soon so if its not long for its release i could wait and have a better excuse to change motherboard too.

Avoid Ryzen 3000, the new GPUs are showing its slowness. Its alright for people who already own one or can get an amazing family discount.

IMO don't use Zen3 on your motherboard, the BIOS support is only a beta and tons of features will be buggy.

I agree with your friend, a 3600 to 5600x isn't worth the hassle or cost. Save your money for a worth while upgrade.

Intel is the better value right now, if your 3600 isn't fast enough get a 10700 or 10850k.

Hey, im new and just learning here but i saw that Intel cpus cant handle much ram speed as AMD does, my Rams are at 3200Mhz. That one the first reason i went for AMD, and well everyone was telling me that AMD right now is a lot better than Intel. Everything i just said could be completely mistaken tho lol.

i guess ill just wait more and see if i get a R7 5800X or wait for new AMD cpus, i dindt know it wasnt long til those come out and then it will be worth to upgrade motherboard too. Hope it doesnt take too long tho, i really would like to upgrade this year.

AMD is faster, but only the newest 5000 series Ryzen 9s. All older AMD options are slower than Intel.

An intel i9 10850k\10900k is faster than even a 5800x, only the Ryzen 9s 5900x\5950x are the fastest.

The older AMD 3000 series is slower and more expensive than intel.

For ram Intel can actually go faster. Both will do 3200MTs no issues though. Both can go high enough that it makes 0 difference though which one can go higher.

If your unhappy upgrade now, the next stuff is a while away and its going to be expensive. You will need new ddr5 that will be expensive, a new MB that will be expensive because the top chipset comes out first. Plus new platforms have bugs, so the first people will be the beta testers. Generally I recommend skipping the first gen of such a big platform upgrade to avoid all the bugs and the early adopter high price.
