GPU usage not going past 10 %

Tina sahay

I have a dell g5 se(ryzen 7 4800H, RX 5600M, 16 gb ram, 512 gb ssd) laptop. Got it in April 2021, and played a couple games. Tried the same games today and it couldn't go past 8 fps. The AMD Radeon software and Alienware control centre said that the GPU was at 10% (and the CPU was at 70%). The GPU was at 59C and CPU was at 55C, so I dont think that it is thermal throttling.

My drivers are up to date and it started reaching 18 fps after the update but its still pretty bad. Any idea what I should do?

It sounds like you may be able to switch between onboard graphics and discrete. It sounds like maybe it defaulted to integrated if this is the case?

Edit: Also make sure you are plugged into power and not using battery power.

Could be the integrated GPU as mentioned above.

I know that you can switch between GPUs but I'm not sure how to? I tried disabling the integrated graphics in device manager but Minecraft still uses integrated graphics for some reason. Frame rates are low, and the amd software still says 15% use(better than b4 I guess but not rly).

Go into NVIDIA control panel and there is something about it under one of the left side settings which GPU to use. I believe its under 3D settings. Also some Manufacturers have like a physical switch or software that lets you switch back and forth.
