The problem with chrome is that it splits each tab into a separate process, which is great in that if one tab becomes unresponsive the rest of the browser still works, but it also means that it uses more resources because the rendering engine has to be loaded multiple times.

I'm pretty sure the rendering engine is multicore optimised so it makes a lot of sense to split everything  in however many processes, for stability or not. Of course you need at least an Core i3 for that! The problem on a heavy ram based browser is startup time, after that, you should be bottlenecked by the network itself and the CPU speed and NOT by the mechanical drive.

I mean it will use more memory because some resources are duplicated. Absolutely there will be minimal difference in browser performance after startup, but I actually have issues with low ram, even with 8gb, because of the number of tabs I have open at any one time (I have had 150+) in Firefox while doing other things. In chrome, I can assure you that the issue would be more significant.

10-20 tabs is something, 150+ is something else entirely. Upgrade to 32Gb if you know you need that amout of memory. I'm courios how will you find a certain tab in that cluster!

No matter how you guys look at it, at least Firefox has smooth scrolling.

And I'm only using like 180MB with Firefox, and I have quite a few extensions.

Tab groups are amazing! Also, most of the tabs are not loaded at any one time (they only load when you click them). I guess it's OCD because I leave them open "incase I need then"
