You pay for 1000Mbs most likely from their source (read your contract).  Wifi naturally cuts into that by how Wifi works and the components involved.

You acknowledged you're getting 1000Mbs into the home, that's all they promised you.

If I remember right, 802.1ac maxes at 800Mbs or a bit above?

Like I said above, it depends on the components.  Looks like your PC is wireless, probably a better and/or larger antenna, better processing chip in the NIC, etc.

Why do 2 cars using the same gas on the same road in the same weather go different speeds?

I doubt that will do it since your PC is getting faster speeds than your phone, the antenna in the phone is the issue.

You realize that only speedtests will get you what you're seeing already, downloading services normally don't allow that bandwidth since it costs them a shitload to do so.

Actually it might, although I tend to get the opposite where my S10 goes faster than my PC.

Of course you could equally end up with the reverse, where the PC gets worse and the phone gets better.  There's just no predicting with WiFi.

In all honesty though if anything is going to go slower I'd want it to be my phone.  Its not like I will be downloading huge files to my phone every day, but my PC I'm often dealing with large files.  So personally if I was in this scenario, I'd leave it alone.

Router:  Intel N100 (pfSense) WiFi6: Zyxel NWA210AX (1.7Gbit peak at 160Mhz)
WiFi5: Ubiquiti NanoHD OpenWRT (~500Mbit at 80Mhz) Switches: Netgear MS510TXUP, MS510TXPP, GS110EMX
ISPs: Zen Full Fibre 900 (~930Mbit down, 115Mbit up) + Three 5G (~800Mbit down, 115Mbit up)
Upgrading Laptop/Desktop CNVIo WiFi 5 cards to PCIe WiFi6e/7

Because speeds are only guaranteed on Ethernet.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

  1. Have you tested while cellular data was completely turned off?
  2. I've seen a similar complaint which was associated with a firmware upgrade crippling the maximum download speed on WiFi. Which firmware are you on?
  3. What WiFi settings is your router using?

Referring to the phone. Android version. Are you using a ROM other than the stock Samsung version?

Looking at your phone's screenshot, the icons still show that the phone is connected to both cellular and WiFi networks. I'd advise you to activate airplane mode then activate WiFi before running the speed tests.

Then take a screenshot of the WiFi settings page. Hide any passwords.
