So the cpu manufacturers have always been creating ways on how to make PC building easier and I had an idea. It's simple but will give new builders more confidence

They should put a circle in the middle of the cpu just enough space for the thermal paste to cover when applying it out of the tube they can put letters there so why can't they put a very helpful circle in the middle to help on the thermal paste application

High effort-zero purpose.

You can't tell me that you can't put a pea sized plop of thermal paste on a CPU. It doesn't need to be perfect.

Well there are a lot of thermal paste tutorials on YouTube that A lot of new builders watch so why not. Some people just needs that small boost on their confidence to start doing stuff because PC building for first time builders really looks difficult. For you that I expect has already built your own should be a piece of cake but then again this feature is for new builders

Because pastes have different densities, especially at different temperatures. Some pastes flow easier, some are much paste like and you could literally build a tower of paste within a circle. So a circle is not a proper way to define the amount of thermal paste needed.

Also, they already took care of the problem by pre - applying thermal paste on their stock coolers, so you only have to put the heatsink down on the cpu.

With retail coolers, it's up to the cooler manufacturer to supply instructions about how to apply thermal paste. For example, one manufacturer may supply the cooler with a graphite pad instead of paste, then what do you do with the circle?

You just answered your own question. Go on Youtube and find that information.

I'm not trying to be rude in any regard, I just don't see why a manufacturer would go through that much effort.

I see sorry I just use included paste lol

Supposedly, mounting pressure makes excess thermal paste ooze out the sides, such that the application is perfect every time, provided that you did not use too little.

"What's this dot?"
"It tells you where to put the thermal paste."
"Okay but... Where's the thermal paste?"

'It's preapplied to the included the bottom of the cooler that came with the CPU."
"So... I don't need to put thermal paste in the thermal paste dot?"
"Nope."
"Then... Why is there..."
