Consistent FPS drops for no reason...

Go to solution Solved by TheKracken,

Well, I took some time this weekend and lowered the speed of my RAM from 3200 to 2666. Ryzen 5 1600af is rated for 2666 apparently. I don't want to jinx it, but this seems to be working so far. I've had no hiccup on Minecraft or Apex Legends so far, so let's hope it stays this way! (By the way, I looked at my CPU and GPU temps, and there is no thermal throttling. The GPU doesn't go past 72 degrees and the CPU doesn't go past 50-60 degrees while gaming.)

Preface: I've been watching almost every LTT video for a year and a half now and I built a PC last July.

So, I've had this problem for a while and haven't been able to fix it. It started with Warzone. I would be playing at a reasonable frame rate, but there would be FPS drops every ten to fifteen seconds. They weren't horrible, maybe 10-20 FPS, but definitely noticeable. Now, the same thing is happening in both Apex Legends and Minecraft. Minecraft for crying out loud!! I've tried everything I can think of and everything Google can think of. I've lowered all the settings, turned off FreeSync, turned off Vsync, optimized the hard drive, performed a malware scan, etc. I'm running all my games off a hard drive and on a Ryzen 5 1600af and RX 5500 XT 8gb. Task manager doesn't show anything suspicious. My RAM is 16gb of 3200 mghz. Why am I having problems?!?! Thanks in advance!

Are you using that awful Wraith Stealth (stock cooler for 1600 AF)?
I suggest monitoring CPU temp and CPU clock while you are gaming (MSI Afterburner + RivaTuner for OSD).

yeap check for spikes, gpu, cpu all core, and also RAM and VRAM.

Usually there must be something… frames dont drop just because , theres always a reason and usually  thats how you find out.
