need help with my cpu

Guys please help me, I have a laptop with a core i7 7500U 2.9 ghz base clock, but when ever I launch a game and start playing the speed drops to around 2.2 - 0.9 ghz, although the temps would not exceed 55 degrees celsius, can you please help me, I have enabled windows best performance power plan, reinstalled windows and updated the bios, though, nothing seems to work, I really need your help, thank you.
Edit : I have solved the problem, it turned out to be a power limit problem because I had the battery unplugged, after I plugged it the cpu continued boosting normally, thanks  .

any game, I tested it in fortnite, valorant, apex legends and rogue company.

How much FPS are you on?

before the cpu starts throttling, I get around 90 fps in fortnite but after it starts doing its thing the fps dips to like 40.

what are you using to measure this?

I use msi afterburner, but I also checked hwinfo64 and it is the same
