Posted June 23, 2021 I recently bought several servers from a civil engineering firm upgrading their systems (3x Poweredge R510s), but it looks like they didn't reset them before getting rid of them. Meaning, when I boot them up, I still see the domain account login, which I have no password for. I plan on wiping the servers, but if possible I'd first like to recover the Server 2019 product key, and I'm not sure if there's any way to do that without logging in. I've tried several things, all to no avail. Any advice appreciated.
Posted June 23, 2021 The key should be linked to the board unless the servers were activated through the domain, in that case you won't be able to recover or reuse the Windows license. If they were activated with actual license keys as long as you reinstall the same version of Windows Server it should activate automatically with the key linked to the motherboard.
