NVMe SSD :970 Evo Plus or 980 Pro

Caess

Spec:

MSI z490 Tomahawk

i5 10600k

Corsair RM 750x

2x 8gb Corsair Vengeance Rgb Pro cl 15 3000 mhz

Gigabyte rtx 3070 gaming oc

Hey Guys. I want to buy a new NVMe SSD and can't decide whether I should buy a 970 Evo plus or a 980 Pro both are around 140 € right now. I know that I can't use the 4th gen thingy for the 980 Pro but it should still be better than 970 Evo plus in some ways right ? Or is there a major drawback to the 980 Pro? Would love to know what you guys think about it. And I've heard also about the new SSDs getting very hot is that true or just insufficient cooling ?

I know that the 980 Pro is faster than the 970 Evo Plus if I had a 4th gen capability, but I dont. I am trying to get more technical inside in those two like NAND Flash,Controller or endurance and what you guys think is better.

Samsung says: The 980 PRO is twice as fast as the 970 EVO Plus.
980 PRO: 7000 MB/s for 204,89 €
970 EVO Plus: 3500 MB/s for 154,90 €

980 PRO PCle 4.0 NVMe M.2 SSD | Samsung Deutschland

970 EVO Plus NVMe M.2 SSD | MZ-V7S1T0BW | Samsung DE

If you would get both for the same price, get the 980 PRO.
If the prices are like samsung says, get the 970 EVO Plus, because you wont notice the difference unless you transfer multiple TB of data on a daily bases.

My build:

CPU cooler

Id get the 970 evo here(or a even cheaper drive)

You can't use a gen 4 ssd on your system at the full speed, so the speed difference will be much smaller here.

And programs just don't care about the extra speed, you won't notice any difference in speed. Look at this

You are right normally it would be faster but I dont have the 4th gen so I cant make anything out of it. And I heard or read on some sites that Samsung did something with the 980 Pro that made it worse than the 970 Pro. Thats why I asked the question. If only the speeds would matter I would grab a 980 pro asap but there is so much more to it like the controller or the NAND-flash or the endurance thats why I tried to get an inside.
