My First Build!

Budget: ~$1500 USD

Country: USA

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: I want to run forza 4 for now and 5 when It comes out. minecraft, MS flight sim 2020 at any amount of settings (my old computer cant run it at all)  and I need to do editing is resolve 17.

Other details: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/xxPBBc

This is what I have specced out rn its slightly over budget but ithink I can do it I have a bit of wiggle room. SOmeone on reddit said that this MB had a button that flashed the bios without needing a older cpu and I need that because I don't have a cpu to flash it with. if this is a bunch of BS than what board should I get? I need a monitor too needs to be 27" or bigger and I don't really care for refresh rate but I do want 1440 or better.

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Qm9Mwc

Main Project:

A desk that has a hatch that opens in the middle of it and then goes down flush with the desk.

Other projects I am working on

  • Sleeper TI-99 4A
  • Second Keyboard

Here I did what you have asked for and for an OS you can get one from ebay for max 20$ and this case have so much better airflow https://pcpartpicker.com/list/yZK9Dc

The motherboard does have a Flash BIOS button so you will be able to update the BIOS using a usb drive.

You do not need an 850W psu for an RTX 3060 equipped system. 550W or 650W would be more than enough.

The case has poor airflow.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

Seven fans and an 850W psu seem excessive for an RTX 3060 and 65W TDP 5600X.

Why is the RAM sketchy? T-Force is a very reputable brand who makes good kits. Also it's ram, it's not that big of a deal.

And for the PSU, this is a really good deal. IIRC, the company that manufactures these PSUS (Channel Well Technology) also manufacture the Corsair RM series of power supplies. So these are really similar in quality.
Also the SSD you chose is SATA, the Sn550 is NVME, and is cheaper.

I'm not sure why nobody addressed the monitor situation, but those models aren't that good. Good 1440p monitors don't start to show up until the ~$400-$500 range, which is out of your budget unless you want to start compromising on your builds performance to fit an overkill display.

You're getting pretty close, it's looking good.

I +1 the above though, also:

1. MSI A750GF is cheaper than the Enermax, plus it's a multi-rail unit.

2. My thoughts still haven't changed on the monitor, it's not that good, and quality 1440p is out of your pricerange.

3. You'd probably be fine without the Hard Drive, just get a larger capacity SSD.
