Windows not downloading updates

Go to solution Solved by RTX 3071,

If these don't work, this time do a clean install, instead of resetting.

What version of Windows 10? 1903, 1909, 2004, 20H2, 21H1?

If you are below anything before 2004. You are better off doing a full reinstall with the latest version.

Does it give any specific error?

It's from 20H2 to 21H1.

It Doesn't give an error code & sfc scan didn't find any corrupted files.

I had the same issue a while back, have you tried downloading Update Assistant from Microsoft’s site and using that to look for updates? If I remember correctly that’s how I was able to update.

I'll give that a try next time I have a chance & post an update.

Okay, based on that error, it is not what I was describing earlier.

You can try to run the following command from an administrator Powershell “dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth” without the quotes

If that does not fix it you may need to go and delete your Windows Update folder. I don’t remember off the top of my head as to how to do that, but you should be able to google something along those lines and fine a way to restart your Windows update service.

Powershell came up with a different version than the one I have & couldn't fix it.

You need the - between cleanup and image. You typed /cleanupimage it needs to be /cleanup-image

My bad. After the correction, it says "The restore operation completed successfully. The operation completed successfully." but I still get "Error encountered"

Did you run the "Troubleshooter" and see where the problem might be?  Could be something like DNS not being able to resolve an address.
