Retro PC build (2006) has issues.

BotDamian

Hello,

I'm trying to just simply play some old games like NFS U2.

I have a Asus Maximus II Formula 775, E8500 and 2x 4GB DDR2 RAM.

Bough even a original Windows XP 64bit edition, It looks like the PC doesn't like me at all.

It's very frustrating, I've tried 4 different Hard Drives and an older SSD (that works on my normal PC 3400G AM4 etc)

So the old SSD works, but now as of writing this I have a blackscreen and the Monitor went standby while the Keyboards LEDs are on.

It sees the CDROM even when I swap the SATA cables, but it doesn't see ANY harddrives even the working ones.

I did IDE mode, AHCI mode and it won't spin up the CDROM for installation nor does it see the hard drive.

It says Hard drive not detected.

What hard drives are you using? A later LGA 775 board such as the one you're using shouldn't have any issues with SATA drives, even modern ones.

It tried to boot the SSD and it showed a windows XP screen and then blackscreen or restart.

BIOS says "SSD not detected"

I just bought a 30bucks SSD with 240GB and we will see, if it works then it works if not I throw the PC out the window.
