what PSU, the 3080ti takes a lot more power the the 2070

With my 2070 I had a stable overclock to my i9 10900K @ 4.9Ghz but with the 3080 Ti I've experienced more PC crashes than with any other PC I've used or built.

I reset most of the settings for my i9 in my BIOS settings and the crashing has ceased. I'm think that I just had a really unstable overclock for whatever reason. I can look more into that at another date.

The GPU is using 2 separate cables coming directly from the GPU, one cable with both connectors in use and the second cable with only one connector in use. The GPU requires a 12pin connection in total.

Right now for my PSU, I'm running a CORSAIR HX Series HX1200 - 80 Plus Platinum.

So I don't think a lack of power is an issue unless the distribution of power being equally distributed with this PSU is a problem I'm unaware of.(This was last minute purchase when I was building my rig because PSU's were sold out everywhere and expensive in the U.S.)

While this could be a complete coincidence, after installing my 3080 ti I've had on and of game and PC crashing. Nothing else was altered besides taking out my 2070 and putting in the 3080 ti. The drivers for the GPU are all installed my PC is up to date as far as other drivers and updates go.

I'm running 2 LG monitors at 2k, which my system doesn't seem to mind until it randomly crashes or a game crashes. I never have high temps and I don't ever experience lag at any other time.

Any thoughts?

I went ahead and tried that but it didn't help any. I'm thinking this GPU might be scuffed

I ran into an issue last year when I was testing a 5.1ghz overclock on my i9 10900k/2080 ti setup. I could either overclock the CPU or GPU but not bother without crashing. This started with a Windows update.

Since my TVB 4.9ghz/5.3ghz setup has been so successful I have not pursued it.

I have a 3080 ti on my 5800x rig but have had no issues with it so far.

Same issue. Fortnite dropping to 50fps. My 1080ti Poseidon & 3070 fe  both are running rings around my 3080ti ?

I ended up having to de-clock my CPU. It was running @ 5.1ghz(now my i9-10900k is running stock @ 3.7ghz) but it turned out to be the main culprit for my GPU issues(it seemed like a GPU issue but was more of a system instability issue).

I don't have problem with my 3080 Ti but I don't overclock my CPUs and my GPU (all stocks).

3.7GHz, it's base but when you play, it runs at 4.8GHz all cores mode Turbo. You lose only 0.3GHz from 5.1GHz (overclocked), it's not big deal.

Initially I tried to just tune down my CPU to just turbo, but then even turbo was still causing issues.

I've heard about a lot of inconsistencies with the 10900K in particular.

As you've probably seen, I've had many XD

I did have hard crashes when I first got done Building my new PC.
but I think it was more CPU related because once Installed the newest BIOS the hard crash issues were gone.
What kind of CPU do you have?

i9-10900k now clocked @ 3.7ghz, whereas before clocked @ an unstable 5.1gz

So I can speak with a little bit of authority now. Previously I was running an Aorus 2080 Ti Xtreme Waterforce WB with my 10940X @ 4.9GHz all core, on an EVGA Supernova P2 850W.

Swapped the 2080 Ti out for a 3080 Ti FTW3, and entire PC is still quite stable. OC'd the 3080 Ti up a bit, put memory up to +750MHz and ran the OC scanner for the core clock.

I think my issue pertained more just to my specific processor model. All other aspects of my system were working fine and are continuing to so long as I don't mess with the GHz of my CPU
