What is usb 3.2 gen 2x2 header on motherboard used for???

everything between the motherboard and the front of the case is just a wire.  That's it.  There is no 20gbps special wire.

USB C needed a special interface due to power delivery and some other features that an older USB header style couldn't deliver.  All current USB C standards work together fine.  (We will see what happens with USB 4, but that's not out yet.)

I see now. Thankyou!

I'm looking at a motherboard and looked at the specs, they looked nice but then I saw that it has a usb 3.2 gen 2x2 header on it. I tried looking for cases that might have a port for that but there wasn't any, anyone here might know it's purpose?

It's probably uses the same front usb type c connector, most modern case have that like Corsair 4000d and 5000d

You can connect that to a front panel USB connector. Most cases list something like USB-C 3.1 or 3.2, but that is nonsense. The motherboard determines what USB generation it is, the case just provides the internal connector and the physical port.

Gen 3.1 and 3.2 use the same connector on the motherboard.  Same pinout, the difference will be the tech behind the USB Controller.

Yeah, but is there use for the 20gbps header?
