Too Little Thermal Paste?

I was wondering why why my pc suddenly rebooted itself and posted a cpu error. So I took off the heatsink and this is what I saw. Can anyone tell me if this amount of thermal paste is normal or too little?

It's nicely spread out, which is good

But i think iy was on the thin side

Can you enter bios and maybe see the Temps in there?

Looks like it completely dried up already. Also what cooler is that on what cpu?

I get stuck on post can't get into bios will probably buy thermal paste and re-apply

Default cooler for 3600 ryzen

You have to that paste is ruined now. The stock cooler on the 3600 is enough but it will run hot. If your ambient temperatures go up a lot due to summer and such it can result in it not being enough as it is rated to cool a 3600 at 20c as far as I know.

Make sure it's a good quality paste/TIM or it's not going to be any cooler than it was before.
MX4 is a good paste/TIM to use and not that expensive if you can get it.

As for why it shutdown/rebooted, that could be due to anything going on TBH and more info about it is needed before that can be reliably diagnosed.
