This is my list at the moment juts wondering if this is any good wont be looking for a gpu until prices go down just wondering if this is a good place to start

the stock bios on that board doesnt support the cpu without an update so be prepared to have a supported cpu on hand to do the update.

does bios flashback work without a functional machine of some form to download the bios

I could be wrong because 1. I have an Intel system (very little generational upgrade path with that platform) 2. My system is fairly new, and 3. my mobo does not have a BIOS FLASHBACK port on it 

 

Anyways, let me get to the point. For AMD, I think that the motherboards have a FLASHBACK port on them, and I think (I could be wrong) you plug a USB flash drive with the compatible BIOS installed on it, and there is like a light or something on the port and there is a certain color and frequency pattern when it is updating and when it is done, there is another color and frequency pattern. Once it is done, you can boot up the PC and start gaming (after drivers, of course )

 

PLEASE DONT JUDGE ME IM ONLY SAYING THIS ON VERY LITTLE PRIOR KNOWLEDGE

I'm sure he can get access to another computer to download a bios file.

 

This is certainly much better advice than buying an extra CPU.

I have not told anyone to purchase an extra cpu

You can find plenty of guides and videos.

 

Basically you just put the bios file on a USB stick and put it in the port labeled bios then hold down the button for a few seconds. You only need to have the ATX power connector plugged into the Mobo.

 

And the file usually has to be renamed for each board. I think Asus includes a renaming utility.

Well gee you don't think he can find another computer to download a bios file but he IS going to have an extra CPU lying around.

I didnt assume they had an extra cpu on hand which is why I recommended it.  They are more than welcome to accept any advice given there are plenty of options to select. If you recommend a different route they can choose to do that instead no need to discount other recomendations.
