I have a question about the chanels of ram in a motherboard

So im getting the ATX MSI MPG B550 Gaming Edge WiFi mobo and im also getting Crucial Ballistix Gaming 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4-3600MHz CL16 i know that with 2 sticks it will be able to run at 3600mhz with this mobo but im planing to get another Crucial Ballistix Gaming 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4-3600MHz CL16 kit like 1 year down the line, but with all the 4 slots filled in the motherbord will it still be able to run the ram at 3600 mhz? is it worth to even buy the 3600mhz if it wont run with 4 stick 1 year from now ?

Which cpu are you planning to use?

The board can handle much higher than 3600MHz, so no, there should be no issue with two or four sticks. It can be impacted by the CPU's IMC, though. What CPU do you have?

CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 5900X · Cooler: Artic Liquid Freezer II 280 · Motherboard: MSI MEG X570 Unify · RAM: G.skill Ripjaws V 2x16GB 3600MHz CL16 (2Rx8) · Graphics Card: ASUS GeForce RTX 3060 Ti TUF Gaming · Boot Drive: 500GB WD Black SN750 M.2 NVMe SSD · Game Drive: 2TB Crucial MX500 SATA SSD · PSU: Corsair White RM850x 850W 80+ Gold · Case: Corsair 4000D Airflow · Monitor: MSI Optix MAG342CQR 34” UWQHD 3440x1440 144Hz · Keyboard: Corsair K100 RGB Optical-Mechanical Gaming Keyboard (OPX Switch) · Mouse: Corsair Ironclaw RGB Wireless Gaming Mouse

It will run dual channel, either way. And, that's good for basically all consumer CPUs, AMD or Intel. You'd have to go very far back to find something that only supports single channel.

Ranks is an entirely different thing. There's some performance benefit for Ryzen running with four ranks, but it's not going to make or break your system one way or another. At 8GB, each stick will be single rank, so initially you'll only have two ranks, but after you add two more, you'll have the ideal of four. No issue either way, though.
