What resolution & refresh rate?

My first 'gut reaction' would be to avoid the Intel system, as their base level chipsets (H510, in that example) are awful for upgrade potential.

Can I realistically call myself a gamer, if I only play ONE, twenty year old game...?

Did you test boot it, before you built in into the case?

WHY NOT...?!

I'd go with PC 1

The CPU is much stronger, which will be a huge help for Android Studio and for your work. Nvidia's broadcast suite (RTX voice, background blur, etc.) should also be useful if you have video calls for work.

Gaming performance on both PCs will be very good, but PC 2 is slightly better in gaming.

it depends if you lean more towards gaming or development

pc 1 will do much better with software development because of the extra cores

while pc 2 will be about 15-20% better in gaming

gaming system: Intel core I9 12900ks / biostar Z690A valkyrie / 4x8gb corsair Vengeance @3333Mhz ram / RX 7900XTX pulse gpu / Thermalright peerless assassin 140 /Coolermaster Qube 500 case / Be Quiet Dark Power Pro 12 1500w power supply

laptop: Dell xps 9510, 3.5k OLED, i7 11800h, rtx 3050 ti, 2x16gb DDR4 @ 3200Mhz, 1TB main drive, 2TB add in ssd

Well, the i9-11900 is WAY better than the 3500X, but why H510M...?
I would go for the intel system though.

Sounds like a store-own 'pre-built'...

Small, local PC shops (stores) tend to build systems to move parts en masse, but they don't always have a good choice.

H510M is a budget chipset (usually) why would it be paired with a top of the line CPU..?

(I edited that post - probably all they had.)

I would go for amd, easier to upgrade in the future if you ever need to and seems pretty solid what you have overall. Only issue here is finding your gpu.

I would go for the intel system though.

The PC is a pre-built one, the issue was just if for what I wanted, it would be enough

I'm not looking to play at 4k (at least for now) so 2560 x 1440 at 75Hz is probably what I would be aiming for.

Thanks for the answers guys 😉
