What case would fit this that looks cooler to show off to my friends when I buy it or is there anyway to modify it to look cooler just  as is?? Thanks for any recommendations.

You will not be able case swap a Dell OptiPlex without major modifications such as splicing.

Big nerd.

no one is going to be able to give you a specific case because "cooler" depends on you and you alone. we can give you some reccommendations but what you like can only be chosen by you.

Literally just means something that looks like a gaming case to flex on my friends I don’t care anyway yeah thanks

i was saying that because if you use pcpartpicker.com. to pick a case, there are over 4000 all with different designs andf knowing what is cool to you may not be to someone else.

very similar case.

Not really. the sff variants use different motherboards and are basically impossible to case swap.

There is a lot of proprietary stuff on these. I believe there are a few modders making and selling front panel adapters. Not sure if you need the 24 pin adapter for the motherboard but those are easy to get as well. The swap should be possible but it will be quite a bit of work. make sure you get a new psu as well if you're planning to add a graphics card.

I believe the MT uses regular 24pin. At least the old optiplex that I modded when I was in college did and you could just put a standard psu in

Nope, Dell moved to their weird proprietary setup across all consumer desktop form factors starting with Haswell. A very brief Google would lead you to the same conclusion comparing boards between the Ivy Bridge and Haswell setups.

Yeah leave it to Dell to take a good thing and ruin it. Blows my mind how far they've fallen from the Ivy OptiPlexes to the abomination that is the G5? GN reviewed.

Also just noticed reading your reply and seeing my first post that the Googling part came across way more asshatty than I intended. Oopsie doopsie. 🤦‍♂️

Lol for real. They pretty much killed upgradeability by focusing on enterprise where they can just use all proprietary parts which is sad
