cheapest 64 bit cpu

Go to solution Solved by Kilrah,

Look at Socket M Core 2 Duos. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Intel_Core_2_microprocessors#"Merom",_"Merom-2M"_(standard-voltage,_65_nm)

Apparently that machine was offered with C2Ds so it should support some, but I haven't searched long enough to find which, you might have better luck. Ideally get one that it was offered with, as if it wasn't there's no guarantee the BIOS will support it.

I have a toshiba satellite a135 s4537 with pentium t2080 I have 15 bucks and I need the cheapest 64 bit cpu that will fit

T7200 is about $6 on Aliexpress. However you should know that that era of laptops are not known for their upgradeability.

Merged, please don't open multiple topics for the same thing. Ideally you'd have a single thread for all the upgrades you want to do to that machine and the questions about them in New Builds and Planning so that people have the whole context when answering.

you might consider either:
https://www.cpu-upgrade.com/CPUs/Intel/Core_2_Duo_Mobile/T7600_(Socket_M).html (p.s. that' the 64 bit cpu, but selling on ebay as low as 35 bucks, still pretty good)
or the
https://www.cpu-upgrade.com/CPUs/Intel/Core_Duo/T2700_(Socket_M).html

2 cores only but decent speeds for the generation, also tdp should be the same I guess? also ensure your laptop is in the latest bios.

I'm gonna buy the one I posted a pic of because it is the one that came in the better satellite at the time so I know that it will work and it is the cheapest
