6800XT is a little faster in raw performance, more like a 3080, but isn't as good at ray tracing and lacks Nvidia "perks" like NVENC and RTX Voice.

You have to decide for yourself based on what you intend to do with the card which is more valuable to you.

Corps aren't your friends. "Bottleneck calculators" are BS. Only suckers buy based on brand. It's your PC, do what makes you happy.  If your build meets your needs, you don't need anyone else to "rate" it for you. And talking about being part of a "master race" is cringe. Watch this space for further truths people need to hear.

Why does the other person want to trade? That's a very important question here.

I probably wouldn't do it in your case anyway.

Keep the 6800xt it's far better than the 3070 except in ray tracing.

Trading it for a 3080 would be a fair trade, if you don't want the ray tracing and the extra vram matter to you the 6800 xt is better.

I'd like ray tracing in my card, but not if it came at a cost of non ray tracing performance

I wanted to trade the 6800xt because rna2 has problems with dx11 titles. But I figured out how to use dxvk, so I don't need a nvidia card now. FYI, dxvk is an application that forces games to play in vulkan, not dx9,10 or 11.

I'd give you a 3080 for a 6800xt if I was in your area

If that were a 3070 Ti, I would consider the trade (you would be happy with either card).  Since that's just a 3070, and a Gigabyte card at that (with all the known quality issues with their Ampere cards), I'd keep your 6800 XT+.  The Nitro+ series are sapphire's highest end  aircooled versions for that line.
