Intel i7 920 Quad Core with Hyper Threading

ATI Radeon HD 3xxx and ATI Radeon HD 3850 

PNY 4gb x2 (8gb Ram)

4 Sata Hard Drives

Running Windows Server 2012 R2

 

I was wondering why ATI Radeon HD 3850x2 Would not Fold when its the primary GPU.

I had to install a second Radeon HD 3000 just so the 3850x2 will fold. 

 

I use Boinc. 613,000+ Credit Hours.

My current Boinc Setting let me Fold 8 CPU Task and 2 GPU Task at once, the GPU tasks are failing to finish.

Is there a specific question you have about F@H and the hardware listed? You haven't given us much to work with. Op was edited

 

What do you mean it would not fold? What would happen when you installed/ran F@H?

ohh.. you mean you have to run at full power in order to make the gpus fold? yeah

Do that but pause the CPU

 

I think if it's set to other settings, when your computer's screen goes blank / idle / screensaver it will start folding with the gpus

Have not installed F@H, using Boinc. Was wondering if changing to F@H will solve my GPU issue. My 3870 x2 has a flashed video Bios. Flashed it 2 years ago to play GTA4. 

 

Are the cards overclocked at all?

Don't switch to folding - those cards are not supported. :) I think right now the lowest end series still working is the 5000 range. 

 

As for issues in BOINC, no clue. Let me ask @Levent and @alpenwasser

What GPU projects do you run with BOINC? As projects evolve and create new applications,

they will eventually stop to run on older GPUs because they require too much horsepower,

and the tasks will start to fail. For instance, in GPUGrid (CUDA-based), the large work

units will require a rather up-to-date GPU to run successfully.

You could try switching to different GPU projects in BOINC, see if you can find something

that doesn't require as much computing power and which might still be able to run without

issues on your cards. But in the end, applications which can successfully run on your cards

are likely to be phased out at some point, upon which you'll either need to quit GPU work

in BOINC or upgrade your GPU.

did you change any settings in Project page? or in BOINC settings to use all 3 gpu's?
