Hey everyone, need some clarification if this is normal behavior for my loop. I am running a 5900X with PBO turn on and idle temps before adding my 6800XT to the loop were around 45C and 73C during Cinebench23. After adding my GPU to the loop before my CPU idle temps now are around 53C and Cinebench 83C. My loop goes Res > Pump > GPU > CPU > Rad > Rad > Res. There is about a 10C difference in idle temps between my GPU and CPU. Is this normal for the temps to be this different and the CPU idle temps going up after adding the GPU block before the CPU. Thanks everyone.

It sounds a little bit on the toasty side, but I guess its not outside of my expectations. May need a slightly more aggressive fan curve, ideally based on fluid temperature.

Everything else being equal, an increase in CPU idle temp from 45C to 53C would indicate a fluid temperature increase by the same amount, namely +8C. What portion of the 8C is from adding the GPU, what portion is from changes in ambient temperature, and what portion might be due to differences in other conditions (power on time), I could not say. Without that information, these results are within the realm of expectations.

It is normal for the idle temps of the GPU and CPU to differ. There are a few reasons for this, but it is primarily because the GPU is direct die cooled while the CPU has a heat spreader, so the idle temp of the GPU will usually be closer to the fluid temp.

You give way too little data to make a proper assessment. Which case? What kind of rads? Where are the rads mounted? Ambient temperature?

Generally speaking, you're adding another heatsource to your loop which will raise coolant temps which in turn reduces the heat gradient between the coldplates and water which will reduce heat transfer efficiency, which then will result in overall higher temps.

Experience also shows that most people sort of misremember previous readings, especially idle temps since they tend to fluctuate by quite a lot on Zen2 and above and unless you specifically took an average reading over time X it is likely that you only started to actually think about those values when you got some values that are suprising to you. This is pretty common: once you're sensitized you will notice a lot more you previously just ignored. I know I've done that.
