everything that gets produced has a certain area of variation within the acceptable parameters for performance. so yes, even HDD's could vary a little unit to unit, but not enough to notice it on something like boot times.

Yes, but on normal usage you won't even notice it, it will be noticable when you overclock it.

If you just got this laptop, first thing you do is add a m.2 ssd.

The difference is night and day, i suggest doing so asap.
