Xtra-PC USB stick

So I was watching Youtube when an ad popped up,

https://www.xtra-pc.com/pages/shop-xtra-pc?utm_source=1104&gclid=Cj0KCQjw16KFBhCgARIsALB0g8Irxzx9_arhIMdQ36SPrLh6EUovb372QQoIbTEZsFYCFKJKxMZ4g8waAsBREALw_wcB&vid=fIrTSaChaOQ5fGKntJEWjTrajx&n=0u6VR3IaXRj0

thats the link that it brought me to, so basically the ad says that this thumb drive can speed up any old dying PC and make it super fast, but idk if this is real. Could anyone test this out?

It's a USB stick containing a Linux distribution. The idea is that the stuff used in modern USB sticks is faster than a hard drive from an old PC, and that - combined with how bloated Windows is compared to Linux - means that you'll notice a significant performance improvement.

So it works - kinda - but you can accomplish exactly the same thing for free if you have a USB stick lying around

Thanks for reading all this by the way!

By the way, my desktop is a docked laptop. Get over it, No seriously, I have an exterrnal monitor, keyboard, mouse, headset, ethernet and cooling fans all connected. Using it feels no different to a desktop, it works for several hours if the power goes out, and disconnecting just a few cables gives me something I can take on the go. There's enough power for all games I play and it even copes with basic (and some not-so-basic) video editing. Give it a go - you might just love it.

Yeah for old pc with old sata 1 or 2 drive that has around 15-30mb/s, compared to modern usb stick that have 50+ mb/s.

It will boost the system pretty well, since hdd is the biggest bottleneck in the system.
