Core 2 duo systems aren't really good as gaming computers, if you are playing anything modern. Performance will be okay with some of the classics like team fortress 2 (mostly).

If you can get a GTX 750 ti, it is recommended. Often it is the same price or cheaper, but the gaming performance is better, and it also does not use PCIe power cables so it is slot only.

hey!

i was planning to purchase a gt 1030 for my pc with a core 2 duo e7500 and 4gb of ram

i was using onboard graphics of g41 motherboard from zebronics previously.

so is this a good choice and what can i run with it?

my monitor is 1366X768

It'll work, but you should look into upgrading the rest of your computer soon. The E7500 is ancient by today's standards. It should run anything that your CPU is capable of playing, so lighter games like Minecraft should work.

Phobos: AMD Ryzen 7 2700, 16GB 3000MHz DDR4, ASRock B450 Steel Legend, 8GB Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070, 2GB Nvidia GeForce GT 1030, 1TB Samsung SSD 980, 450W Corsair CXM, Corsair Carbide 175R, Windows 10 Pro

Polaris: Intel Xeon E5-2697 v2, 32GB 1600MHz DDR3, ASRock X79 Extreme6, 12GB Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080, 6GB Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 Ti, 1TB Crucial MX500, 750W Corsair RM750, Antec SX635, Windows 10 Pro

Pluto: Intel Core i7-2600, 32GB 1600MHz DDR3, ASUS P8Z68-V, 4GB XFX AMD Radeon RX 570, 8GB ASUS AMD Radeon RX 570, 1TB Samsung 860 EVO, 3TB Seagate BarraCuda, 750W EVGA BQ, Fractal Design Focus G, Windows 10 Pro for Workstations

York (NAS): Intel Core i5-2400, 16GB 1600MHz DDR3, HP Compaq OEM, 240GB Kingston V300 (boot), 3x2TB Seagate BarraCuda, 320W HP PSU, HP Compaq 6200 Pro, TrueNAS CORE (12.0)

i was planning to build a whole new pc but the covid ruined everything

so the lga775 socket doesn't support anything above quad 2 core q9650 and the prices of that thing is like more than the mrp of a gtx 1660ti here in india.

i read about the bottlenecks and i was quite worried and i don't wanna play high end games

cs , cod, amnesia or older titles would work just fine.

thanks for the response it made me feel better about my choice.

and will i be able to enable gpu acceleration in premiere pro cc 2019?

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

i looked for gtx 750, 650, etc

but they're not available here in india sadly

I'm only left with the option of gt 730 or gt1030.

I wouldn't try to run Premiere on that system. That's an extremely tall order for such an old machine. Older game titles should work fine though.

The 1030 is a good card if you can get it for cheap enough, but it's still not going to be the best. If you can I'd suggest looking into cloud solutions.

If the price is decent get the 1030 over the 730. It's a better choice all around, and it's a newer card.

If the GT 1030 is the only option, it will still be an improvement.

Make sure that you get one that uses GDDR5 and NOT DDR4. The difference is very large even for the 1030.

the price is luckily the same for both the cards from where I'm making the purchase

and as for premiere i still use it without a gpu

it runs and i work on it but yea it's annoying

so the gt 1030 would be better than a g41 express chipset right?

if you can find a core 2 quad for cheap I'd swap it in.
the 50% more cores will help a lot
moving to 8gb of ram would also help but given its DDR2 I'm hesitant to recommend buying a bunch of 2gb sticks
