Emulation or not delema

rockyroller

I'm hoping this is the most appropriate section for this

Background:

I'm building a new PC, 5800x cpu, but I'm testing solutions on my current 8350 cpu. So the Host will be Win 10 in both PCs.

Problem

Steam no longer supports XP so default Steam download will not run and I have a awful lot of games that do not run on Win10 64bit along with CD and on floppy disk games.

To date:

I've installed VirtualBox yesterday. A few teething problems that I think the www will have solutions for, but will a faster 5800x take care of what I see as program stutter?

I'm unable to do an XP registration via the web, no such MS server anymore, does this mean I should use an old computer that already had XP installed and forget about emulators?

How to solve the Steam Client issue, so far I've found a file called steam_201901 is this ok or is there a better fix?
