So i used this PC for years now. Today it gave a blackscreen (code Hardware failure) and after this event, the pc started stuttering in every game without any component going over 60percent rlly.
my Specs: I5 4570, HD 7870, Asus Z87 Deluxe Mainboard, 16GB 1330mhz

i assume it would be the cpu, cause i am kinda sure, it overheated over the accident.

It would really help to know more about what might have failed.  The irony on modern stuff is that gpu is perhaps the most valuable piece of the machine due to the shortage.  There’s actually some demand for them. So “is the gpu good” is a pretty pertinent question.  The i5 is 4/4 which will have issues with many new games anyway. Plus the IPS isn’t great anymore.  It’s still fine for non gaming often and even gaming sometimes, but there’s even some PS4 stuff that won’t play nice. IF it’s the cpu that caused the hardware failure replacing it with a 4770k or 4790 of some sort might be worth doing.  Maybe.  Tough call.  I don’t know what they’re going for right now. Might be dumb.  There’s an argument that any hardware replacement at all on that is throwing money down a hole. Even 4/8 of that vintage is on its last legs even when overclocked. Used decent ddr3 is dirt cheap, so if it’s a memory problem replacing memory is perhaps doable.  If it’s any other hardware you’re basically boned barring bizarre circumstance.  Save and reuse the gpu probably if you rebuild.  The GPU market is hideous atm. On the bright side you’re due for an update anyway.  Z87 Motherboards are  generally either alibaba rebuilds from recovered parts or unobtainium. Either way they’re not very cheap. A machine that old should have eaten at least one PSU already, so it or a HDD is the most likely bits to have an issue, but you’re talking $65 for a replacement.  If all you have is HDDs a PSU and/or an SSD might be worth trying but only if if it doesn’t fix the issue you pull them and put them in a new machine along with the GPU assuming IT wasn’t the bit that died.  There aren’t any good solutions for that one right now.

”hardware failure” errors aren’t always actually hardware though.  A dump file from the error might give clues as to where the problem is.  I can’t understand them though.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Life is like a bowl of chocolates: there are all these little crinkly paper cups everywhere.

So, the Pc run fine beforehand. With Msi afterburner no problems are getting noticed. So theres no overheating or overusage of any component. I just want some help on where the problem may be. The Gpu is fine and the cpu used to too. As i said. im trying reinstalling drivers now.

When I get home, I'm trying putting the lagging games on my ssd. I got an 120gig ssd and the games I ran atm were minecraft and rocket league, so nothing big or gpu or cpu defeating. Hilariously, minecraft was the game giving the most problems, with "stable" 10-20fps at any graphical region.
