yeah, it sounds like thats exactly what you would do with Chrome OS.  

It'll do just fine.

I’m thinking about purchasing a chrome-box. But I’m questioning myself for I should just buy a windows-PC.

For anything other than the most basic of web browsing yeah it kinda sucks

 

Never mind, I am dumb. Clearly theres been a lot of updates and improvements since my last extensive use with Chrome OS

I just going to do school-work via g-class/other crap. Basic web browsing too. Shopping/google etc.

It depends on use case. Personally, for me, ChromeOS is the stuff of nightmares, as I'd be unable to use full Word, PowerPoint, SolidWorks, Steam, Minecraft and so on.

 

That said, if all you need from your computer is the browser, you don't lose much with ChromeOS.

It all depends on use case. It sounds like Chrome OS is fine for what you need.

No. This just isn’t true. 
chromeos has had more than a browser for years at this point.

it has android apps, full Linux support, and to a certain point, full Linux installs

I could use some help with this!

what vversion do you have? 

its been since version 69 stable.

 

if not you can use crouton with dev mode for a full install

Do you have updates disabled somehow? They should automatically install unless your Chromebook is ancient.
