So I’m hoping someone with computer fixing knowledge will see this. Yesterday I came back in my room and saw my laptop on the ground and the screen was like this. Is this possible to be fixed? I’d rather it be fixed then need to be replaced. But everything works on it apps can run in the top right corner that whole spot works, just the screen everywhere else is either black or kinda flashing the back ground aka my desktop. Just if anyone can LMK if this is fixable even if I have to buy a new screen please tell me so I don’t have to lose my mind. Thank you all.image.thumb.jpg.329840dc91ffd8f7a16093273c7d7cd9.jpg

Depending on your experience, replacing a screen isn't (usually) that hard, but it can be a bit tricky, depending on the laptop.

I don’t trust myself not messing it up so I’m thinking about bringing it to Best Buy and having them do it but I just wasn’t sure if the damage is not fixable

Doubt they would want to fix it, if you have something in place you might be able to go for a replacement or buying a new one.

If not they send it back to the manifacture, and they can replace it.

Had the monitor for long or more recent?

if it was a phone, that could be a lot easier.

got any friends who do electronic work or IT?

The upcharge at a store is significant.  (A local shop would probably cost less than Best Buy, if you have one.)

If the laptop is less than 3 years old, you can readily get the screen replaced.

if it’s older, you may need to find an aftermarket screen or even replace the entire lid assembly.

Ohhh, sorry. I misunderstood. I thought you meant fixing the screen rather than replacing the screen.

It’s all right I just don’t want to have to buy a whole new laptop just bought it and it’s all brand new so as long as the screen can be replaced I’m happy

Replacing laptop screens is possible if you can get hold of the parts, and have a relatively upgradeable laptop.

If it's a more recent, thin and expensive laptop, I'd probably bet that you need to get a professional to do it for you. This could be expensive, and could take a while, but at least you can trust that it will work afterwards. Also, if you use a professional, specify the resolution of the screen that they are replacing; I had a laptop screen replaced last year but they replaced a 1080p panel with a 720p panel, which was fine as I didn't use the laptop for much longer, but still an unwelcome downgrade.

You'll have to replace the screen itself. There's no way around it - it's physically cracked. You can open up the lid assembly and just replace the display panel, or you can choose to replace the entire lid with screen depending on how readily available parts are.

Before you try to replace the display panel, locate the service manual for the laptop first.  Don't just 'wing it'.  Get the real disassembly instructions first.
