100$ graphics card

Go to solution Solved by PhantomChevron,

Just get the MSI 750 TI, only needs a 300W PSU, no external Connectors, its your best bet

So I'm looking for a graphics card to suggest to my friend who has a decent prebuilt. He has a budget of around 150$. I was thinking a 750ti, but I don't know which one. Suggestions?

His other specs:

12gb RAM

i7-2600

Other Dell crap

Thanks!

Location: Canada

Someone told Luke and Linus at CES 2017 to "Unban the legend known as Jerakl" and that's about all I've got going for me. (It didn't work)

EVGA 750ti

MSI has a better cooler then EVGA and has a generally better fan design, as it has the reverse thing at the start to get dust out

a. Save up more, difference between 100$ and 160$ card is huge, even more so with r9 270

b. http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814202084&AID=10657534&PID=3938566&SID=&nm_mc=AFC-C8junctionCA

c. buy used card, from a friend if you can

at 190 you get something like r9 270, and at around 250 gtx 760

You mean for the 750ti or all cards? It's not all about the cooler, they are both great, EVGA just has way better customer support and warranties.

I forgot about the 750ti fan problem, oops.

I will fourth... yeah fourth the motion of the 750ti off topic though. Do Canadians always put the dollar sign after the number? I've never noticed it before.

pretty sure its just easier to put it after the number, it doesnt look right so i would usually have said "150 dollars" or 150(currency)

having to put the dollar sign in afterwards when you dont think about it is friggin annoying

I'd either get the 750 ti or save up for the radeon r9 270.

Oh and by the way due to the good power consumption of maxwell the 750 ti's core stays nice and cool, the reference cooler isn't too bad.

Honestly as far as 750 tis go I'd go with any non-reference cooler, anything that looks the most aesthetically pleasing and with or without the addition 6 pin power connector.

Also some come with display port so keep an eye out for that, good for some g-sync jazz which would go well with a budget card.

Do as Linus always says, save for the better option that costs just a tiny bit more ^^

Guys look, if OP said it was a Old Dell, it may not have a PCI power connector, and the MSI one does not need it, its his best option really, I would recommend the Asus one, but since it has a power connector, then I would recommend the R9 270 as it requires the same power connector.

Also, What is the PSU wattage?

How would a 750ti compare to a AMD HD 6450? Also he has a shady PSU so 750(ti) is best choice IMO because no power connector.

Someone told Luke and Linus at CES 2017 to "Unban the legend known as Jerakl" and that's about all I've got going for me. (It didn't work)

It's enough to run a i7-2600 and a 6450. So probs around 450 watts.

To be completely honest, I would upgrade the power supply FIRST. Get a CX600M or something like that before getting a new graphics card.

It's an old dell, he just wants to upgrade the graphics card so he can play games at above 15 FPS. A 750ti doesn't need a PCI power connector anyways.

That's not the point. Some power supplies blow up even with light loads. Even a 750ti might blow the power supply.

Already contains a 6450? I think a 750ti would be fine.
