My specs:

I5 4590

G skill 16gb

RX 570 4gb

500gb HDD

I dont know why but after installing a new update my pcs disk went crazy, sometimes it would be at a 100 avarage (when the pc just turned on and while not doing anything) and sometimes it would be 0.

Tried turning off SysMain (because it was constantly on the top) but now its just System and the least demanding apps.

Btw is it even safe to turn off sysmain?

I could use some help with this!

please, pm me if you would like to contribute to my gpu bios database (includes overclocking bios, stock bios, and upgrades to gpus via modding)

Are you talking about disk usage? I dont know about sysmain. I would try to see in task manager what is using that much of disk from time to time, also if i was you and dont find what it is i would reinstall OS using a new installation media and install all the updates and then disable the updates for a month because that can be one of reasons of your disk and network usage being high when you are on very bad internet like me.

One question, why dont you use ssd in your system, its gonna be much faster and lower usage in general plus they are dirt cheap nowadays?

never happens on my laptop, which has a hdd and original, non hacked windows install. it sometimes (very rarely) does this, but only for 5 minutes, if that long.

Funny enough it has also faster bios time compared to my desktop pc with a Samsung EVO ssd. 14 3.9 vs ~19 seconds iirc.

Actually, its this

it's not being unreasonably slow but still at 100% usage, then that's normal for Win10.

its been around 97%  for *4 minutes* but didn't feel slow or unresponsive at all, thats why i probably never noticed. CPU usage was similar, but as said no.slowdowns whatsoever and certainly not for "20 minutes"

Also my bios time is 3.9 seconds, wtf, is that because its an intel (as opposed to my desktop which is AMD, i think so!)

@Vastery I do think this is normal after updates, restart the pc a few times, and give it a few days, it should  recover.  If it doesnt , might be actually something wrong with the drive. 🤔

laptops have long bios times in my experience.
