That's as much of the system I'm using that makes any difference to what I do.

When even *planning* an upgrade to the above - never mind *buying parts* - do 5xxx CPU's &/or 5xx series Chipsets even warrant consideration, or would I be better off waiting to see "what happens next" with the next-gen. CPU socket?

EDIT:

I have a Corsair RM750 waiting to replace the OCZ unit, so...

Can I realistically call myself a gamer, if I only play ONE, twenty year old game...?

Did you test boot it, before you built in into the case?

WHY NOT...?!

For your usecase I don't see a reason for well any upgrades. What you should do is get a better psu rather soon as that ocz is known to not be good for your system at all due to poor power delivery and lack of protections so when it fails the system goes with it.

I edited my OP to include that I have that covered...

I would recommend stick to what you have now and wait.

I'll be honest, that's what makes most sense.

Alrighty then well I don't see anything that needs changing. Good on you for taking preventative measures! Anything the system is struggling with that would want you to upgrade?

CPU cooling, maybe... but probably nowt that re-TIM'ing wouldn't solve.

I didn't mention any cases as that isn't *that* pivotal to core performance, in my eyes.

To be fair, I've not found that OCZ unit to be problematic, in any way (it's given sterling service since 2013)... aside from knowing that OCZ are no more & custom cables,- back when I was considering them - are non-existent.

What do you mean by this? A hyper 212 or something as simple as that would be a big improvement over the stock cooler

Yeah I hear this from plenty of people. It's a general issue and well some people are just lucky. Doesn't mean the issue isn't there.

I'm using a be quiet Pure Rock... but as it's be on, 24/7, since I got it, a new blob of MX-4 is an option.

Out of warranty (and business) is the only thing that 'really' worries me, but I have a replacement.

Wasn't mentioned did not know. What is the problem with it?

It's the second item on the PCPP list.  😊
Temps go up a bit, when gaming, but nothing that causes crashes... just gets noticeable when I game, compared to anything else I do.

I have considered a Dark Rock Pro 4 or a D15, but not pulled the trigger...

would upgrade GPU but if you're happy with the perf then you don't have to do anything about it

you can also try undervolting to cool your CPU down

I've been procrastinating with a new "improved airflow" case I got a good while ago; I'll re-do the thermal compound when I finally get my 'arris in gear.
