What is commonly called The thermal pad thing is for m1 apple silicon macs afaik. If you’ve got an i5 it’s intel so it doesn’t even apply.  There might be something different available for your chip.  I don’t know.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Life is like a bowl of chocolates: there are all these little crinkly paper cups everywhere.

That thermalpad was only for the Macbook Air.

Intel versions of the Air 2018-2020: Because of bad cooling

M1 Version of Macbook Air: Better heat dissipation.

I've never heared anyone use a thermal pad on a Macbook Pro.

And you don't need that, since it doesn't throttle that much, it gets hot, but it also holds a very high Boost clock and draws a good amount of Power.
