Does MXM to PCI-E exist?

I'm aware that mxm isn't an unified standard but with a not-so custom pcb it should be possible. I've searched other forums but only found suspicious links to "chinese-esque" websites with stupid prices.

Mxm wasn’t common even when it wasn’t considered obsolete. It was also a laptop thing and took up too much space to survive the war of fractional millimeters of thickness that modern laptops have been engaged in for several years.  As a part with a really small market I suspect it’s unlikely to get better than weird stuff on chinachannel.  It’s sort of too bad really. It wasn’t a bad system.  IMHO the weight and thickness wars in laptops serve no one.

Yes it does, but the adapter will have to be powered by at least one 6 pin connector and finding a compatible cooler might be a hassle.

Put a mxm card in a desktop... hmmm.  that may be a market that hasn’t gotten it’s door battered down yet. Adaptor is still gonna be hard to find though.  It wasn’t something people thought to do much when mxm was a thing.

Well, most of them don’t even have the right caps and vrms to support strong video cards, so OP should either give up or spend a whole day looking for adapters, and then finding out which one is the safest for his mxm.

There is an asrock board that takes a lga1151 cpu and an mxm card if your looking for something more plug and play. 

 

But i assume op is like me and is just trying to get any decent video chip working by any means nessesary during the shortage. And they already have the entire build sans gpu so i see the hesitation to migrate

Absolutely not worth it.  The cheap ones don't even have display outputs.  Eurocom sells one for like $700 with outputs.  And you still need a cooler.  Might as well just buy an old desktop video card of the same power that the MXM adapter would be otherwise attached to, for the price that the adapter itself would cost or significantly less.  If you were trying to use a MXM 1070 on a desktop, you can buy a used 1070 for less than the adapter would cost (and has a heatsink and fan!)

I wanted to use it on an old mxm kepler card I salvaged from an old MSI laptop but guess even that's going to cost a fortune with shipping included, thanks for the info
