What type of ethernet cable should I use?

So right now my gaming rig is hooked up with an old cat5e that I found in my wire junk bin but I found out that there are types of ethernet cables and I was wondering 1. Will it make that much of a difference for downloading 2. Will it help my ping out any? 3. If yes to either of those what should I upgrade to I only need about 15ft of it is cat8 overkill I have no idea about any of this

What speed is the link connected at?

 

Normally you have 1gbe in homes, and cat 5e will work fine with 1gbe, and higher grade cables will make no speed difference.

I would assume its just a 1gb its whatever router the apartment complex had put in and i never changed it over to mine  I really don't know much about network connections

Yea then a better canle will make no difference, no reason to change it.
