I heard the rumors, about DDR5, i not going to jump on to that, i stay with my DDR4 expense i dont want, they say jump everyone say how high, so i think while all the rich and famous want to use DDR5, also see how well DDR5 takes off how much memory improves.

Nobody forces you.

But eventually, new processors will be released with only support for DDR5, which will probably mean new cpu socket, because existing sockets don't have all the pins/contacts the DDR5 memory sticks need - if it's not obvious to you, no, you can't install DDR5 sticks in your memory slots, those are only for DDR4.

So you'll have to upgrade the motherboard and the memory in order to be able to use the new CPU.

as said above no one will force you.

also newest cpus are good enough for many years.

but eventually cpus will only support DDR5

DDR5 should mop the floor with DD4. Have you even looked to see how it works? Pretty awesome stuff..

Here is something many people in the pc-hardware market need to learn: Just because there is something better doesn't mean everything else is bad all of a sudden. Just because there's DDR5, there is no reason why DDR4 will be bad all of a sudden...

If someone did not use reason to reach their conclusion in the first place, you cannot use reason to convince them otherwise.

Indeed. I just retired my decade old pc to build this one. My old one is still good, just not as good as this one.

It will, eventually.

But I think it might start out just as DDR4 did.
Not really faster, or often the same, as high end DDR chips from the previous Generation.
But a year or two later the speed difference will probably be massive

It's more along the line of memory controller refinement, motherboard bios compatibility and so forth.

But DDR5 will be about quadruple the bandwidth.

It will be expensive at release time just as any released revision DDR in the past.

But for the OP, having that thought... you could still very well run DDr3 and have a working system. Why even buy ddr4. Well to keep up with the times. You guys aren't using 1st gen iPhone still are you? It still makes a phone call doesn't it?

Don't forget that RAM is just part of a whole.  So while DDR5 may end up being much better, it still is only a smalll aspect of a PC"s performance.

More than likely DDR5 will take off when it is just the RAM you buy with a certain motherboard.  Like how no one buys DDR3 for Z370+ anymore.  Oh wait, it won't work.

DDR5 is nothing more than the progression of RAM.  That's kinda all it is.
