Budget: around $700 USD(am flexible)

Country: United States

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Minecraft, Apex, League of Legends, etc.

CPU: Ryzen 5 3400g

Mobo: ASRock B450m PRO4

RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 2x8gb

HDD: Seagate Barracuda 2Tb

SSD: Samsung 870 Evo 250gb

Case: Cooler Master Q300L

PSU: 400-500W EVGA

I chose to go with the Ryzen 5 3400g instead of my preferred option, which would be a Ryzen 5 3600 CPU and a Geforce Gtx 1650 Super GPU mainly because of the availability and cost. If I can find the GPU that I want, I will buy that instead, but overall, will this build work well?

What PSU exactly do you plan on getting? Big difference. What RAM Speed? How much are you paying for the 3400G?

For reference it would be nice if you used PCPartPicker.

Big nerd.

If you live close enough to a Micro Center, you should give them a try, because the prices online can be a bit high sometimes.

I plonked you build into part picker. It didn't show any game breaking incompatibilities, though I am concerned about your psu. If you get a 400w one make sure it is pretty solid because this current config takes like 270w.

I think I'll be getting a 500W 80+ Bronze PSU from EVGA.

The LPX and Ryzen + Mobo you may get some odd behaviour with when it comes to rated speed. It's on the compatible ram list, but has trouble running at rated speeds with those if it's a 3200mhz kit.

Hmmm, I was planning on getting 3200mhz, should I change it?

What Hardware are you using now? Some Tips:

1) I would check the Specs and Prices of B550 MB as that will give a upgrade path.

2) I would also go for a bigger SSD then 250GB. At least ~500GB.

3) Go for higher Wattage PSU, like 550W. This will ensure when Prices go down you add a decent dGPU and the R5-3600 you wanted.

Otherwise not bad.

Alright, I added the SSD, even though I don't think it's entirely necessary, since I also have an HDD, and I'm just going to go with 500w because Micro Center doesn't have an EVGA 550w. Honestly, the most I would upgrade this PC to would be a Ryzen 5 3600 and Geforce GTX 1650 Super, and those are both compatible with the b450, so I might leave the mobo as is. The new list is:

I believe the 3400g (despite being 3xxx series) was actually a Zen+ part.  they really don't like running past 3000Mhz (I have one)  In the UK 3000/3200Mhz was pretty much same price when I built so I just ran it slower than rated speed. But, if this is the 1st build and you can make a saving, go for 3000Mhz as that's all it's likely to run at...

Once you get the 3600, it'll be slightly better, but expect to only get up to 3000mhz. The 3400g you are probably going to have a fair amount of trouble going past 2666mhz. I have mine running at 2133mhz with my 2600x because I got tired of trying to push the speed and having windows corrupt. I was able to get 2666mhz fairly easily, the best I ever got was 2866mhz

What's wrong with this as an upgrade path?

Where im at we have no microcente I would consider switching out your cpu to a intel cup so you can run on their intergrated graphics and wait till you find a solid gpu for a fair price which I don't see happening anytime soon unless your near a microcenter
