Logging out of the gmail app.?

I am getting nitifications if new mail & I don't want to. A google search says remove account from phone?

You can disable notifications of an app since Android 4. Gmail app also has ability to turn off notifications.

That's a bit extreme for just disabling Gmail notifications.

 

Open Gmail > Settings > General Settings > Manage Notifications and switch off what you don't want to see there.

 I was thinking it was. I just turned of auto-sync.
