Are TN monitors good enough as secondary monitors?

Im looking for a budget secondary monitor for watching youtube and multitasking

How is the monitor going to be positioned in relation to your body? Because of their limited viewing angles, TN panels perform best when you're looking at them head-on.

It's going to be next to my main monitor but i'll have it angled my way

As long as you're viewing them mostly head on they're fine. My VG248QE has a hardly noticeable shift from side to side movement. The most notable shift comes from changing my vertical viewing angle.

Yes.

All the second monitors used in my house are old TNs.

One it 4k 60hz and the other is 1440p 75hz. both are pivoted 90%.

 

Make sure that the TN you get is 8 bit without FRC or 10 bit(8 bit + FRC) or the color will not be great.

They can be fine, but you can often find used/ refurbished IPS displays for about the same price as a cheap new TN panel. I'd say check for those in your area/ online before coming to a decision, especially if looking at a TN panel for a few minutes hurts your eyes like they do mine.

 

EDIT: whoops, didn't notice this was from almost a month ago, but my advice stands for anyone stumbling across this in the future.
