hi, recently i have had some problems with my cpu fan, and i got a new one on my warranty, and it came today, but before i start it i have a quick question.

the new fan already has the stock intel cooling paste on it, and I was wondering if i had to remove the thermal paste of the proccessor or not before install the new fan.

i am only asking this because i have no isypropal alcohol and none of the pharmacies where i live sell any.

Thanks!

well you do need isypropal alcohol to clean the surface of the CPU to apply the new thermal paste other wise it wont be clean enough to apply the new one

Please...for the love of all that is silicon (yes that includes Pam Anderson ;) ) use coffee filters or some other non-lint material to clean your cpu with that alcohol. Keep wiping it until your filter comes away clean.  You would be surprised at how much residue is left on the cpu after the initial paste comes off.  Re-apply using your favorite method (generally, the rice or pea size plop in the middle is good enough) and burn it in after your rig is back together using Prime. Good luck and happy gaming.... :D
