Do I need a COM cable?

A COM cable is used for 9-pin or 25-pin serial ports. It was before USB.

You can find them for very cheap on eBay.

Unless you have some old tech you need to use, no you don't need one.

This cable usually refers to a serial cable, which is not a common cable in use nowadays. Unless you have very specific (older) equipment, you don't need one.

 

Unless of course you are talking about a different sort of cable or connector.
