I NEED HELP ASAP!!! Cant keep my Ryzen 3800x cool enough

Im having an issue with keeping my CPU cool enough for my taste. Under heavy loads it throttles at 80.0°c even though the limiter is set at 95.0°c IT IS NOT OVERCLOCKED im using the stock cooler. Here are my system specs

  • AMD Ryzen™ 7 3800X 3.90GHz Octa-Core
  • ASRock B550 PG Velocita - ATX
  • (2) * 8GB DDR4-3200 G.SKILL TridentZ RGB
  • AMD Radeon™ RX 5600 XT 6GB
  • Patriot Burst 240GB 2.5in SATA3 SSD
  • Standard Cooling Fan
  • 3TB 3.5in Seagate IronWolf HDD
  • Onboard RAID Controller
  • Set 303 Mid Tower White
  • (7) * Thermaltake Riing 120mm Quite Orange LED
  • Corsair Lighting Node PRO
  • 700W Thermaltake 80 Plus Power Supply
  • Microsoft Windows

80c is fine. No issues. my CPU hits 83c during Folding under full custom loop liquid cooling. I legit just finished a 11 1/2hr folding session like 20 minutes ago. Those temps are perfectly fine.

@Skiiwee29 thanks for the help but why is it limiting performance at 80c when I have it set for 95c? Idk it has me ripping my hair out

How is it limiting performance? The boost advertised is a bit misleading, that is only for 1 or 2 cores/threads usually at a burst load, not sustained all core.

driver update or the software itself, maybe try different software if you can

@Skiiwee29 its difficult to explain what its doing but when it reaches 80c it starts limiting the cores by about 40% or so and my GPU slows down to keep up at first I thought it was just a driver that need an update but I check and my system is current unless it was an issue with the last Radeon update @FakeFBI

try stree stesting it for like 20 minutes, does it throttle, and maybe set it to 90C from the test its gonna run hot

@FakeFBI yeah im runing a stress test now its staying constant at 100% on all cores at 80.52c

Thanks @FakeFBI for the help CPU is back to runing like normal now renders 3D images like a boss yet again.
