Budget (including currency): $3000 NZD

Country: New Zealand

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Mostly PC Gaming and some Fusion 360 work

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Existing parts I want to keep from my current system and put into the new one - Corsair AX850 850W, 1080ti Water Cooled with a NZXT Kraken G12 Adapter and a Kraken Z52 Cooler + 2x 2TB WD Hard drives ( one steam drive and one backup drive)

+ 27" Samsung Odyssey G7

So long strong short, lightning blow up ethernet port on my current motherboard. So I cant decide if I should replace the motherboard or buy a new systems.

Current system (2014 Build) : Gigabyte Motherboard GA-Z97X-UD3H-BK + Intel 4790K (water cooler NZXT Z52) + 2x 512 SSD RAID 0 (see photo attached) + the above existing parts

These are the parts I've been looking at:

AMD Ryzen 7 5800X Processor

Gigabyte X570 AORUS PRO WIFI Gaming Motherboard
Seagate FireCuda 520 1TB Gen4 NVMe M.2 SSD (2x) - Only because my current system is Raid 0
NZXT Kraken Z73 360mm RGB AIO Liquid Cooling Kit with LCD Display - I like the design of the coolers
Fractal Design Meshify 2 Mid Tower Case - Black TG Dark Tint - I love airflow of these cases
Corsair CMH32GX4M2Z3600C18 Vengeance RGB PRO SL 32GB (2x16GB) DDR4-3600 - RAM seem to be in problem in NZ, the the reviews 5800X seem to runs better with DDR4-3800 - 4000

1. Problem I want to know is will I have enough clearance with the Motherboard the NZTX Z73 360mm cooler and the RAM. In my current system I had to remove the RAM shields (casing) so they would hit the cooler.

2. Can some give me some feedback on what I should do, replace or buy new?

3. Any recommendations on new parts.

4. RGB is not required!

Thank you for your time!

If your system is otherwise working fine, just get an Ethernet card or a USB adapter. No Idea about the NZXT stuff but if you are still happy with the performance of that system, why upgrade. What I would replace after a known power surge though is the power supply and get a surge protector as well. I am guessing your modem / router has lost an Ethernet port as well (happened to me recently)? You can get Ethernet surge protectors to be safe in the future (not that expensive but you want to ground them to a power outlet).

I'm currently using a USB wifi dongle, seem to work ok.

Yes I did loss the ethernet ports on the modem as well - modem replaced
I have all my systems (PC and Mac) hooked up to UPS backup units with surge protection built in.

I'll look into the ethernet surge protector if I get a new system.

We are on the copper because I live rural (max download in 1MB) It might be time to look into rural wireless board band.

Thank you for you feedback!

another question is...

Should I build this myself or get a PC store to do it.

I have had a quote from one place and they want $200 NZ to built most of the system (minus the PSU and GPU I'll put this in myself), this includes 2 year warranty, pc step up and test of components. is $200 NZ worth it?
