Hello, I am looking to build a dedicated stream pc for cheap. What would be a good cheap cpu for running obs smoothly with nvenc. Help me with nvenc in this post btw

Thanks in advance.

Hello, I would recommend the Intel core i5 2400S-6500 for a budget streaming cpu, on the gpu side i would recommend the gt/gtx 1030-1650. Hope this helps!

AMD APUs also have built in video encoder. Not as good as NVENC (not sure how it compares to Intel Qucksync) but buying a card separately will cost more (with new CPU) in most cases. Advantage over Intel.will be 3D performance, Intel desktop iGPUs are slower in games.

What is your v ideo source/input?

WHy use nvenc? Id just get a intel cpu and use quicksync on board. Then you can use the igpu for everything.

Is quicksyc faster than nvenc? Sorry am relatively new to streaming and encoding. Also if I do that will an i3 10100 be enough?

It will only be used for video capture from a separate pc so game performance isnt needed.

Both are more than fast enough, you only need to do like 1080p60 at the max, and both can do well over that.

that i3 should be plenty, but whats your video source.

Amd CPUs in general are overpriced in the uk which is sad ;-;

A somewhat worse laptop with a celeron n4120 and 4gb of ram. It will later be upgraded to be equal to my current pc however it is enough for the game I will be playing. I will be using the avermedia live gamer mini to capture.

At least to me it would make a lot more sense to game and stream on the same i3 system. I don't see the point in using that laptop, but it should work. Then you don't have to buy a capture card too.

My only concern is that the game I play (osu) is quite unoptimised and runs at about 300 to 400 fps on my laptop. I've seen people get upwards of 800 using intel hd5500 and I have concerns that it will slow down the encoding of the stream. However before I get into using a capture card I will try this. Thanks : )

Yea that shouldn't be a issue. The stream will only encode 30/60 fps, and you can normally limit game fps if needed.

I generally limit game fps to 120 or 240 just because it helps with input latency and rythm games need good latency. The stream being at 60 fps is fine because I play on a 60hz monitor anyway

Tbh if you build a new system good for video capture, it will be better than your laptop and you might as well play on it, omitting the capture card.

I've been doing some more research and I would like to ask would this intel nuc https://www.intel.co.uk/content/www/uk/en/products/sku/205032/intel-nuc-11-performance-kit-nuc11paki5/specifications.html work for what I want to do? Similar to the i3 10100 with better gpu for lower price. And yes I do agree that it would be great to not need to use a capture card.

Expansion is poor, you only get 1 storage drive (M.2) in particular. Any more will require USB external ones. If you dont need much storage anyway it's decent

Just realised the price was without ram and ssd ;-; gonna need to look for more options
