As of recently I've been having issues with my internet, where I will randomly disconnect from games such as Apex, Valorant, Halo MCC, and other online games. After trying to figure out what the issue was, I took to using a consistent ping to google on my command prompt to see what I could find. I found out that each time I got disconnected from a game or from a discord call, my command prompt was showing me the message, "Request timed out." I tested this with a ping to my router, and everything was fine, so I know that connection is fine. Interestingly enough, this will only affect my games and discord. YouTube, Google, and even going live on Twitch had absolutely no issues. I know its not an ISP issue because it only happens with my pc, testing on other ethernet connections in the house shows me that my computer is the only thing timing out. I've tried looking up this issue and have found nothing on it. I'll really try anything at this point, I feel like I've done everything. Thank you in advance.

This is what I get every time I disconnect. Once it shows request timed out, I get kicked out of any game I'm playing, and discord shows me 5000 ping, which is what you would get if you lost internet connection. Difference is, I'm still connected to the internet, and my google still works fine.

The PC is ethernet, and its a direct connection to the router.

  1. Is this PC in question connected via wireless or ethernet?
  2. Can you sketch a diagram outlining the devices your computer connects through to get to the WAN connection? Please specify the exact makes/models of network hardware.

OK. Do the status logs show any alerts during the times you experience the disconnections?

Where would I check the status logs? The only logs I'm getting are the ones on the command prompt ping. I meant to say modem, my bad

Oh, so you’re connecting directly to the modem.

Was this modem provided by your ISP or did you buy this to replace another unit? Are you using Spectrum?

I’m not finding web interface login information for this Hitron. But I’m observing others having a similar issue with it.

Try turning off the Hitron for a few minutes then turning it back on. Does the problem persist?

It was provided by spectrum, yes. I'll try turning it off, but I don't know how well it would work because its only affecting me, the other computer doesn't have any issues. Might just be me not understanding something though.

  1. This modem only has 1 LAN output. How are you getting online on the other computer?
  2. What speeds are you paying for from Spectrum?
  3. Are you using any bandwidth manager or speed optimization software?
  4. On the PC with the problem, what is the make/model of the NIC? Try uninstalling it's driver and reinstalling the latest version.

Update, I think I might have fixed it. I had reset my pc a few days ago thinking it was software, and saw it happen again afterwards. I thought the problem was still there, but I haven't had any issues since. Spectrum has an issue of randomly going out in my area, which wasn't the main issue I had, but might have been the issue when I reset. I think its all good now. I'll update if there are any issues, thank you for your help.
