Budget (including currency): $2500 USD

Country: USA

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: 1440p gaming, light video rendering/editing, recording/streaming gameplay, maybe mining.

Other details: Hey guys I'm just looking for input on my build and if there's any major flaws with compatibility that I'm overlooking. I'm pretty happy with most of the parts I've picked out so far, but I'm keen to hear suggestions on alternative parts (mobo, ram, SSD in particular). With the mobo I need something that's Ryzen 5000 compatible right out of the box, or has bios flashback since this is a brand new build and I don't have any previous Ryzen processors. I'd love to spend less on the motherboard but the Tomahawk seems pretty solid and I dont think you can get a decent motherboard without spending ~$200 anyways. With the ram I'm trying to find something around $150 with 32gb that's guaranteed to have dual ranks. I tried looking for B-die ram but all of those were like $300-400. For the SSD I'm looking for a 2 tb NVMe drive that's around $200.

Everything is fine, but I think for an AMD system the RAM is a bit slow. Ryzen LOVES faster memory, so I think you should try something faster, around the 3600Mhz range. I found this one a good option around the same price as the RAM kit you selected:

G.Skill Trident Z RGB 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3600 CL18 Memory (F4-3600C18D-16GTZRX) - PCPartPicker

Let me know if this is OK. Cheers mate!

Thank you for the response! I think my dilemma was that it's very hard to figure out if you're gonna get dual rank ram (it genuinely sounds like it could be random unless you're getting B-die samsung ram. I wasn't sure if clock speed mattered more than dual ranks, my limited research suggested it was actually the rank matters more.

I don't think *rank* could matter more than Speed, atleast in a gaming/productivity performance view, and as far as I know, G.Skill is better or more reputable than V-colour the last time i checked 🙂
